How to Use CloneZilla to Package and Restore a System?

Overview:
CloneZilla can fully transplant systems like Windows and Linux to another machine while preserving data, partitioning, mounting, startup items, and everything else.
Note that the machine used for restoration needs to have compatible hardware configuration with the one that was used for imaging, otherwise issues such as the inability to use graphics card drivers may arise.
1. Download CloneZilla
Download link: //clonezilla.org/downloads.php

Choose the second option stable - 3.1.0.22.
1. Select CPU architecture as amd64.
2. Select file type as iso.
Click on Download to download the image file.

2. Creating a CloneZilla bootable USB drive.
Download Rufus tool for USB creation, download link: //rufus.ie/downloads/

Insert the U-disk and run Rufus. Select the U-disk in the Drive column, choose stable-3.1.0.22.iso in the SELECT column, select GPT in the Partition scheme column, and then click START to start writing after configuring.

Note: This process will erase all data files in the U-disk. Please ensure that the data in the U-disk has been backed up before making it!

To make a CloneZilla bootable U-disk, download the Rufus production tool and follow the same process above. The download link for Rufus is: //rufus.ie/downloads/

Click on 2 OK options according to the prompts, wait for the writing process to complete, press CLOSE to exit and eject the USB drive.

3. Packaging of Windows/Linux Systems

Preparation:
CloneZilla bootable USB drive
>16G USB drive (used to store packaging files, it is recommended to have a larger capacity than the CloneZilla bootable USB drive to facilitate distinguishing during the packaging process)
Ensure that the system to be packaged can start up normally and that the driver has been installed. Note: if packaging a Windows system, please ensure that the system to be packaged has not been connected to the Internet to avoid activation failure when using the key to activate the system later!
Insert the CloneZilla bootable USB drive into the USB port of the computer that needs to be packaged, press the computer power button, and quickly hit the F7/F11 key on the keyboard to enter the Boot menu. Select the USB drive with UEFI: prefix and press enter to confirm entering the ClonZilla packaging wizard.

Choose clone display mode, with VGA resolution of 800*600.

Select language and keyboard layout.

Choose the working mode: it is recommended to select Start Clonezilla.

Select device-image to work with disks or partitions using images.

Choose "Local_dev". Use a local device such as a hard drive or USB drive.

Insert the backup USB drive and wait for 5-10 seconds before pressing Enter to proceed to the next step. Confirm whether the backup USB drive has been recognized. If confirmed, press "Ctrl+C" to exit.

When selecting a backup USB drive, if the USB has multiple partitions, always choose the partition with the largest capacity.

Choose "no-fsck" to skip the process of checking and repairing the file system before mounting.

Move to "Done" using the Tab key on your keyboard, select "Done," and proceed to the next step.

Waiting for the system to check whether the capacity of the backup USB meets the requirement for packaging, press Enter to proceed if the condition is satisfied.

Select Beginner Beginner Mode > Save Disk.

Please enter the backup file name, or you can use the default one. For easy differentiation in the future, you can enter it yourself.

Select Backup Disk Name.

Choose the compression option, usually selecting the default option is sufficient.

Inquiring if the image has been checked, there is an option to skip the check which can save time for the backup process.

Choose not to encrypt the image with SENC.

The system asks which operation to execute after the packaging is completed. Here, we choose -p poweroff. Finally, enter y to confirm the backup. After the backup is completed, the computer will enter the shutdown state. At this point, the packaging backup is completed, and the backup file (image) will be retained in the backup U disk.

4. System Restore
Insert the CloneZilla bootable USB drive into the USB port of the computer that needs to be restored. The steps for system restore are basically the same as step 3 and the same parts will not be explained again. This article will start directly from the different parts.
After entering the following page, select "restoredisk".

Naming conventions for packaging and backup prior to selection.

Choose hard drive.

Selection KO Use the partition table from the image；

Selection scr No,skip checking the image before restoring；

After restoration is complete, choose "-p poweroff".

To confirm the restoration information, press Enter after confirming completion, and then confirm the relevant information twice by pressing y. The system will automatically shut down after the restoration is complete, indicating that the restoration is complete. After successful restoration, remove all external storage devices from the USB port, and press the power button to automatically enter the operating system desktop. At this point, the packaging and restoration introduction using CloneZilla is complete.
